After the Air Raids

Departed from Friedrichsruh at 6 AM toward Danish Padborg via Lübeck.
Neumünster heavily bombed.
A German ammunition column had blown up, leaving cars and human remains scattered out into the fields.
While seeking cover during the heavy overflights, I saw a solitary eye lying out in the field.
Organized billet, exposed to flame-dropping Allied planes again, so we had to drive out into a field to avoid being blown up.
