From Ystad

A number of trucks, workshop and kitchen vehicles, and others were to depart from Ystad. We were to be completely self-sufficient. In Germany, we could not expect any assistance. Our platoon, with 12 buses, was the first to set out, and our column, with its painted flags and red crosses, attracted some attention on the road from Hässleholm to the ferry terminal in Malmö. We boarded the ferry late in the evening. At that time, we were still painted in camouflage. The crew was transported to a gymnasium where we were fed, and then we spent the night on mattresses on the floor.
