Digital exhibitionSpeaking Memories

Susanna Christensen

Born on February 8, 1933 in Makó, Hungary.

I was deported on June 16, 1944 from the ghetto to Szeged concentration camp. On June 26 I was taken on a four day long transport to the transit camp Strasshoff in Austria. One week later I began slave labor at a farm in Neudorf bei Bahnhof where I stayed from mid-July until the end of November and then back to Strasshoff. On December 7 I arrived in Bergen-Belsen. On April 15, 1945 Bergen-Belsen was liberated by the Brittish army. My father died two days later on April 17. I arrived in Malmö on July 14.
