Jozef Bornstein
Born on December 19, 1922 in Tomaszow, Poland.
I completed my studies in a Jewish High School in 1939. We were only two students who made it due to the country’s anti-Semitic laws. Between 1939–1945 I was placed in various labor and concentration camps: Lublin, Zawada, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Marienburg and Ganacker. There might have been additional camps. It was an ongoing chain of cruelty, aggressions and acts of hatred. On April 20, 1946 I succeeded to escape from a death march and was hiding at a woman’s place until the American army found us on April 27. I weighed 38 kilograms. The only survivor from my family was my sister Hania and my brother Sim. I came to Sweden in 1948 since by brother who was sick was staying at Garphyttan recovery facility. I became an electrical engineer and opened several companies.
