Mala Freund
Born September 1, 1925, in Łódź, Poland. Died November 20, 2022.
I lived a normal, happy life with my parents and two older sisters. In 1940 we were put into the Litzmannstadt Ghetto. I was later transported to AuschwitzBikenau. Throughout the war I stayed in Langenbielau, Breslau-Hundsfeld, Gross-Rossen, Mauthausen and Bergen-Belsen where we were liberated. My parents and my sister Sala did not survive the war. Me and my sister Renia came to Sweden via the Red Cross, first to Malmö. I had different jobs, married and built a family, studied, worked as a correspondent and wrote two books.

We did not want to tell our children about the Holocaust, we were afraid that they would get hurt. Now I hope that our grandchildren and future generations will read our books and testimonies and forward our stories and memories.
