Ruth Berlinger born Pizyc

Born on September 10, 1931 in Warsaw, Poland.

My parents, Eugenia and Kopel Pizyc, my sister Mirjam, born 1922, and I, were in the Warsaw ghetto almost until the end of its existence. My father and sister escaped miraculously when the uprising of the ghetto already had begun. My mother and I were by then already hiding in the so called Aryan part of Warsaw, we managed to escape the ghetto a few weeks earlier. We were hiding during the next two years in different places, sometimes together, often split, all the time being in fear for our lives. In many ways, this part of the war was even more terrifying than our time in the ghetto. We shall never forget the Polish families, who risked their lives in order to save ours.

It is 2016 and the world does not look very tolerant and human. The Jewish people has contributed a great deal to mankind but is still often blamed. Don’t let the evil forces control people and ideas. We must fight, survive and enjoy life!
